Police presence increases for Labor Day holiday

COVID-19 has made a few changes for holiday plans this year.Gov. Tate Reeves warned Mississippians that this weekend could lead to a spike in COVID-19 cases.So far, family and friend gatherings at the Ross Barnett Reservoir have stayed within the guidelines.One group of friends said they still plan to spend their weekend riding bikes while staying socially distant. "Everybody gets together in their separate groups, but when we ride out in the free air, you're not up under each other. We are just trying to stay healthy the best we can," Cedric Wilder said. Reservoir police chief said officers will be watching all weekend to make sure people are following proper safety protocols as well as trying to keep any large crowds from forming.
